Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her musical talents. She won the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and the first female to receive it. In addition to nine Grammy nominations She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to present at and perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was one of the Indian young sitar singer. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her early years were split between London as well as New Delhi. Her debut performance was on stage in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. After that, she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha was only a teenager, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. She often joins her father on stage, which she has been doing for quite a few years. In 1998 she released her first self-titled album Anourag. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. In 2002 she published a book entitled Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar.
